How do I register an SMS number for my shop?

Select an SMS number to provide consistent communication and business recognition when text messaging customers via Shopmonkey

Before you register for a Shopmonkey Messaging Number, your shop must have gone through the business verification process which is done during onboarding.

Check out SMS Registration Process for more details about the process timeline and how Shopmonkey supports your shop throughout the registration process.

Please Note: In order to communicate with your customers via SMS, a Shopmonkey Messaging Number is required.

Activate an SMS Number

Select the Settings icon in the bottom left corner of your screen.

Select Profile under the Account section on the left-hand side.

Navigate to profile settings

Scroll down to the Shopmonkey Messaging Number menu.

Select Choose a Number for Free.

Type in the area code of your shop to populate a list of options.

Please Note: If your desired area code does not populate any options, we recommend trying other area codes nearby. If you are having trouble finding any options, please reach out to our Support Team through the chat icon.

Choose a messaging number from the list of available numbers. This will be the number that your customers see when they receive SMS messages from your shop. Select Next.

To help your shop meet industry requirements when sending SMS messages to your customers, Shopmonkey provides Terms & Conditions and a Privacy Policy specific to your shop that your customers will receive when opting-in to receive shop messages.

It can take 2-20 days for your selected number to be activated.

Please Note: Our SMS provider, Telnyx, recently shared that SMS verification may be delayed due to higher-than-expected volume because of the election season and the deadline for unregistered traffic. This may cause SMS verification to be closer to 2 weeks, delaying the ability to text your customers. SMS verification does not impact your ability to email your customers. Please reach out to our Support team if you have any questions or issues.

Once your SMS application has been approved, your number will be activated and you’ll be able to communicate with your customers using SMS messaging.
