How do I set up my card reader?

Your card reader shipment includes 3 key components:

  1. Card reader

  2. Reader cable

  3. Power cable

Note that an ethernet cable is optional to connect your reader to your wifi router, and is not included in the shipment.

You must have access to your internet router in order to set up the card reader.

Step 1: Remove the backing plate on the reader, then connect the reader cable by aligning the pin pad and pressing down. Once the reader cable is connected successfully, place the backing plate back on to the reader.

Step 2: Connect the power cable to reader cable.

Important - Do not connect the power supply to a power source / outlet until step 2 is complete.

Step 3: Plug in your power supply to a nearby power outlet. Your reader will power on.

Step 4: Connect the card reader to the router through Wifi or ethernet cable.

The card reader can be connected to the router through WiFi, or directly plugged in with an ethernet cable. The reader must be connected to the same local network as your devices running Shopmonkey.

a) Connecting via WiFi (primary method)

To connect to the internet using WiFi, follow the on-screen prompts. To start over, press X on the keypad.

To switch networks, or connect an already online reader to a WiFi network, press and hold the yellow button and then press 0-WIFI (0-9434) on the keypad. Then follow the prompts. Attempting to join a new network disconnects the reader from any existing wireless connection.

b) Connecting via ethernet cable (optional)

As an alternative to wireless, connect one end of an ethernet cable to the reader cable (as shown below). Connect into the slot labeled "ETH".

Connect the other end of the ethernet cable to your wifi router.

Step 5: After connecting, wait a few minutes, the bootup screen will finish loading and display:

Once you see the screen above display on the reader, you can connect the reader to Shopmonkey.
